About Us

We have been RVing for many years, we love traveling around this amazing country with our dogs in an RV and have met so many amazing people on our journeys.

Our original plan was to wait until we retired to RV full-time, but after many discussions we decided that life is just too short and the time was now to make our dream a reality.

In 2020 John discovered the NRVTA (National RV Training Academy) and we decided to make the trek to Athens, Texas and attend the training program for certified RV Inspectors. That was the beginning of Byker Dog RV. We launched our business in Maryland doing inspections on the weekends while still both working full-time jobs. We discovered how much we both loved helping people through the inspection process and helping them understand how all the different components work that we wanted to do more. So back to Athens we went and John completed the coursework to become a certified RV Technician.

We are as passionate about helping people as much as we are about RVing, dogs, motorcycles and travel! Our goal is to help as many people as we can experience all the joys of traveling in an RV. We know firsthand the frustrations of having something break while on the road and we want to help you get back to enjoying your travel as quickly as possible. We also understand the complications of purchasing a new/used RV and are here to help with the process.

John is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and has spent more than 35 years in the automobile industry as a service advisor/commercial service manager. He is a certified RV Inspector and a certified RV Technician.  

Susan has a BA from UMBC and has worked in the real estate industry for over 35 years as an accountant and an administrator.

Together our combined skills and experience led to the creation of Byker Dog RV LLC. We follow specific Standards of Practice and a Code of Ethics defined by the NRVIA (National RV Inspectors Association) and the NRVTA (National RV Training Academy) that will ensure our customers will receive an inspection or repair of the highest quality and caliber.

Our mission at Byker Dog RV is to help as many people as we can. We are here to help with all of your RV needs whether you need an emergency repair, routine maintenance, owner education or an inspection done on a new to you rig. We treat our customers the way we want to be treated with honesty, compassion and reliable professional service.
